Charles Rainey, Deputy Commander, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command delivers opening remarks during the SPAWAR-sponsored For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) LEGO league robotics qualifying tournament at Eastlake High School. Twenty-four teams competed with programmed autonomous robots for a chance to advance to the Southern California championships. As the Navy's Information Dominance systems command, SPAWAR supports and encourages students to pursue careers in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. |
