Summary
[edit]DescriptionSM U 20 Strand.jpg |
English: This is the wreck of SM U20, the U boat which sank the Lusitania. She ran aground at Vrist in Denmark on November 5th 1916, whilst trying to assist another U boat. As she resisted all attempts at being refloated, her commander, Kapitan-Leutnant Walther Schwieger, ordered a torpedo be detonated in one of her forward tubes, to prevent her from falling into enemy hands. The photo was taken a few days afterwards. For more information about U20, her commander or the Lusitania, visit www.lusitania.net |
