This Society was establislied in 1855 for the students of the RhetoricClasses, in order to cultivate a taste for ancient and modern literature, criticismand other literary exercises. It ceased to exist in 1856, its place being taken bythe Eurodelphian Society. In 1859 the Calliope Academy was re-established forthe students of the Grammar Classes, and flourished till 1866.
