Title |
SEAL MATRIX |
||
Description |
English: A copper alloy and glass watch fob seal matrix of mid to late 19th century date. The suspension loop is circular and projects from a matched pair of C-shaped openwork curlicued loops of machine-pressed metal which split away from each other to join to either long side of the back of the matrix, which is convex and decorated with radial incised lines. The die face is sub rectangular and of clear glass, depicting a paddle steamer ship of the 1850s with side wheel and sails fore and aft of a smoking funnel. |
