Summary
[edit]DescriptionSD3031-The new Blackpool Tram Depot (rear view), Starr Gate, Blackpool (geograph 2418869).jpg |
The new Blackpool Tram Depot (rear view), Starr Gate, Blackpool. The new depot is virtually complete, and now awaits the sixteen new articulated single-deck trams from Bombardier, which should arrive during the course of 2011. They will then be tested before going into public service in 2012. The depot can actually house twenty trams, as Blackpool Council would like to see future extensions, particularly to Blackpool North Station via Talbot Square, and possibly Blackpool Airport. The points have even been put in for tracks to go from the Promenade to Talbot Square. |

The new futuristic looking depot is now virtually complete. It will house the new articulated single-deck trams from Bombardier. The track layout and overhead outside have been installed. Its situation here, and design, upset a lot of local residents, but as an outsider it's difficult to understand what all the fuss was about.
