Description
English: Southbound view along Bass Road (Old US 15-301) at the former intersection with Ballard Lane (Older US 15) in Santee, South Carolina. Ballard Lane was the original US 15, and was also the road to the original bridge over the Santee River. When the river was dammed up to create Lake Marion in 1941, the route was shifted onto Bass Road at a higher bridge over the lake, and this old fork in the road is the point where the route was shifted from the original bridge to the replacement, which itself is currently in the process of being prepared for demolition.
