Zwei Schiffs-Dieselmotoren Type 8 DNT 3960 M von je 1200 PS mit Abgasturbinenaufladung System Büchi für Doppelschrauben-Schiff Pedro Nunes der Portugiesischen Kriegsmarine. Ansicht von oben (Turbinenseite). Die SLM entwarf und baute erfolgreich Schiffsmotoren. Eine zentrale Rolle spielte dabei Alfred Büchi, der von 1926 bis 1935 Direktor der SLM war und die sogenannte "Abgasturboaufladung" für Dieselmotoren erfand. Das Patent für seine Entwicklung erhielt er bereits 1905. Mit seiner Methode erreichte Büchi eine Leistungssteigerung von über 40%.
