Die von der Maschinenfabrik Esslingen für die Lausanne-Freiburg-Bern-Bahn 1862 geschaffene Tenderlokomotive nach Bauart „2/4-gekuppelt mit vorderem Drehgestell“ (Achsfolge 2'B) war für die Schweiz eine Erstausführung. Wohl verwendete die Nordostbahn (NOB) Lokomotiven der Achsfolge 2'B bereits seit 1847 in drei Ausführungen für alle Zuggattungen; allerdings wiesen diese Maschinen alle einen Schlepptender auf. Für nicht zu lange Strecken und für Steigungen von nicht über 12 Promille konnte aber auch die Tenderlokomotive dieser Bauart gute Dienste leisten, umso mehr, als das Gewicht der Betriebstoffvorräte dabei zur willkommenen Adhäsionsvermehrung herangezogen werden konnte. Der Achsstand der Esslinger Tendermaschinen ist mit 6090 mm grösser als jener der Personenzuglokomotiven der NOB von 4710 mm. Damit konnte nicht nur mehr Lokomotivgewicht vom Drehgestell auf die gekuppelten Achsen verlegt, also der Adhäsion nutzbar gemacht werden; es liess sich dadurch auch der vordere Überhang des Rahmens, des Kessels und der Zylinder vermeiden. Im Gegensatz zu nur 14 - 17,5 t Adhäsionsgewicht der NOB-Typen erreichte die LFB-Tendermaschine ein solches von 27 t, was freilich entsprechend besseren Gleisoberbau voraussetzte. Durch Spreizung des Achsstandes des Drehgestells wurden aber Führung und Lauf der Lokomotive so verbessert, dass die Beanspruchung des Gleises eher vermindert und deshalb die Fahrgeschwindigkeit erhöht werden konnte. Dann war auch die Gestaltung des Kessels nun unbehindert. Die 2'B-Tenderloks der LFB sind auch geschichtlich interessant: Erstmals auf dem europäischen Kontinent liegen bei einer 2/4-gekuppelten Lokomotive die Zylinder zwischen den Drehgestellachsen. Die LFB beschaffte in Esslingen insgesamt zwölf Maschinen dieses Typs, die neben den Nummern 1 – 12 alle Namen trugen: 1 Lausanne; 2 Fribourg; 3 Berne; 4 Romont; 5 Oron; 6 Bulle; 7 Le Chamois; 8 Persévérance; 9 Singine; 10 Sarine; 11 Glâne; 12 Gruyère. Zehn der Lokomotiven wurden zwischen 1895 und 1902 – also noch in der Jura-Simplon-Ära – ausrangiert; lediglich Nr. 10 „Berne“ und Nr. 11 „Romont“ kamen mit den neuen Nummern 6398 und 6399 (siehe Fotos) noch zu den SBB, wo sie allerdings auch nur mehr kurze Zeit (bis 1904 bzw. 1905) im Bestand blieben. Lausanne-Freiburg-Bern-Bahn: Die Lausanne-Freiburg-Bern-Bahn wurde 1858 gegründet. 1872 fusionierte die Gesellschaft mit der Compagnie de l'Ouest-Suisse (O-S) und der Compagnie Franco-Suisse (F-S) zu den Chemins de fer de la Suisse Occidentale (SO). Diese schlossen sich ihrerseits 1881 mit der Compagnie Simplon (S) zur Suisse-Occidentale-Simplon (SO-S) zusammen. 1890 fusionierte die SO-S mit der Pont-Vallorbe-Bahn zur Jura-Simplon-Bahn (J-S), der sich 1891 auch die Jura-Bern-Luzern-Bahn (JBL) anschloss. Die J-S wurde 1903 verstaatlicht und Teil der neu geschaffenen Schweizerischen Bundesbahnen (SBB). |
