Summary

[edit]
Description A U.S. Navy Curtiss SB2C-4E Helldiver of Bombing Squadron 6 (VB-6) in flight over the Pacific Ocean. VB-6 operated SB2C-3, -3E, -4, and -4E versions of the aircraft during its combat tour aboard the aircraft carrier USS Hancock (CV-19) from March to September 1945. Note letter U on the tail identifying the aircraft as being assigned to that carrier, which replaced the "G-symbols" in July 1945. The aircraft features nose art, rare on carrier-based aircraft, proclaiming it to be "The Hannah Special". "Hannah" was the nickname of USS Hancock.
