Summary

[edit]
Description
English: STS-26 Discovery, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 103, Commander Frederick H. Hauck participates in crew escape system (CES) testing in JSC Weightless Environment Training Facility (WETF) Bldg 29 pool. Seated poolside, Hauck, wearing the newly designed (navy blue) launch and entry suit (LES) and with parachute harness hooked onto overhead crane, is readied for crew escape system (CES) training. Technicians check his gear and review test procedures with him. During the exercise, a new CES pole for emergency exit from the Space Shuttle was tested. Hauck's parachute gear is like that each STS-26 crewmember and subsequent crews will carry onboard during launch.
