The original finding aid described this as: Description: STS-49 Mission Specialist (MS) Thomas ``Tom`` Akers (diagonal stripe) goes through a stowage box on the multipurpose experiment support structure (MPESS) during the construction of the Assembly of Station by Extravehicular Activity (EVA) Methods (ASEM) in Endeavour's, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 105's, payload bay (PLB). The scene is back-dropped against scattered clouds and Earth. The remote manipulator system (RMS) appears on the bottom left of the image and the initial ASEM structure is visible off the starboard side of Endeavour.
