Description
Français : Vue S-O du bassin couramiaud, depuis hauteurs de Saint-Martin.
  • au centre ancienne commune d’Izieux, avec écarts de la Varizelle et du Creux. Absorbé par Saint-Chamond en 1964, l’ensemble pèse encore aujourd’hui près de 11 000 hab., soit le 1/3 de la municipalité;
  • à l’extrémité droite viaduc de Langonand portant l’A47, ouvert en 1991. L’ouvrage a permis le bouclage de l’itinéraire Givors-Saint Etienne, en évitant le centre ville de Saint-Chamond. On traversait jusqu’alors ce dernier, par un autopont;
  • en-dessous friche industrielle ayant porté, au cours de son existence, plusieurs appellations:

+ Compagnie des Forges et Aciéries de la Marine (CFAM) à sa constitution, mi-XIXe s. + Compagnie des Forges et Ateliers de la Loire (CFAL) en 1954 + Creusot-Loire, 1970-84 + GIAT jusqu’à la fermeture définitive, en 2006

En 150 ans, les établissements couramiauds auront sorti une large gamme de matériels militaires: canons, obus, fusils, sous-marins, chars et blindés divers... ainsi que des biens d’équipements civils, à destination des transports (locomotives, essieux...).

10 ans après le démantèlement du site, sont lancés les travaux de l’ambitieux projet d’éco-quartier « Novaciéries ».

Ce dernier se veut pôle de commerce et loisirs dernière génération, avec cinéma multiplexe, supermarché, logements et parc urbain... le tout sur une superficie de 45 ha. Les 1ère livraisons au public, sont prévues pour l'automne 2018.
