Summary
[edit]DescriptionRytidosperma fulvum3 plant1 (9263983273).jpg |
Native, yearlong-green, perennial, erect, densely tufted, many-stemmed grass to 70 cm tall. Flowerheads are loosely contracted to somewhat open panicles. Flowers from spring to autumn. Found in open woodland or heath and occasionally open grassland, on loam to heavy clay. Native biodiversity. Produces good amounts of very palatable and nutritious forage. Patchy in abundance, but valuable for sheep and cattle where it is common (e.g. Monaro) Most growth is in spring, but produces green leaf year-round if there is adequate moisture. Persists and seeds prolifically unless very heavily and continuously grazed; will tend to decline if not grazed for a long period. |
