[edit]DescriptionRuth E. Hamill identification card.jpg |
English: American Red Cross identification card for Ruth E. Hamill, a nurse who served in Rouen, France with Base Hospital 21 during the World War I. Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri, Bernard Becker Medical Library. Note: The U.S. Army Medical Corp and the American Red Cross jointly organized base hospitals in Europe before official entry of the U.S. into the Great War. While many Red Cross volunteers served as nurses and ambulance drivers, the commissioned and enlisted men of the U.S. Army Medical Reserve Corps would provide the rest of the hospital staff. |
