Description
English: Letter mailed at the Russian post office in Latakia in 1869. Latakia, Syria, was then part of the Ottoman Empire. The letter was mailed to the Russian post office in Alexandria, Egypt. The 5-kopeck stamp was part of a set issued in 1868 specifically for use in Russian post offices in the Levant and the Ottoman Empire.
