Description

Or, a lion rampant and a bordure gules(Russell), as seen in All Saints' Church, North Barsham, Norfolk, mural monument to Philip Russell (1551-1617). Tablet on the North Wall, with coloured Shield. For "Phillip Russell, who having spunne out ye thread of time in ye dimension, of 66 years, whereof ye last 36 ran smoothly over in ye band of Marriage with Katherin' ye daugh. of John Walpoole of Houghton, died Dec 26, 1617." (John Walpole (d.1588) of Houghton, Norfolk, married Catherine Calibut of Coxford in the same county, and was the father of this Katherine Walpole and of her brother Edward Walpole (1560–1637), a Jesuit preacher, and was the great-great-great grandfather of Robert Walpole, 1st Earl of Orford (1676-1745)

Norf vii. 52); Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.880 also gives field "argent" ("Russell of Norfolk; Badham, Thorpe and West Burnham")
