Description
Русский: На фотографии изображён так называемый «русский» батальон, сформированный в составе Осиекской ударной бригады Народно-освободительной армии Югославии из граждан СССР. Наименование подразделения не связано с его национальным составом. По установившейся традиции Советский Союз за рубежом называли Россией. В действительности же «русские» партизанские формирования состояли из представителей многочисленных национальностей Советского Союза. Фотография сделана осенью 1944 года в Славонии. Опубликована в 1952 году в альбоме «Slavonija u borbi : 1941-1945».
Оригинальная подпись под фотографией: «Русский батальон, сформированный в Осиекской бригаде из взятых в конце 1943 года в плен и перебежавших „власовцев“. Их командир батальона товарищ Петр был ранен 7 раз, Славония 1944 год».

This work first published in Yugoslavia is in the public domain because its copyright expired pursuant to the Yugoslav Copyright Act of 1978 which provided for copyright term of the life of the author plus 50 years, respectively 25 years for photograph or a work of applied art. This applies to works already in the public domain before the breakup of SFR Yugoslavia in 1991.

a) a work of known authorship and the author died before January 1, 1941
b) an anonymous work and it was published before January 1, 1941
c) a photograph or a work of applied art published before January 1, 1966
