The decollated snail is a native species of the Mediterranean.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The shell is long and roughly cone- shaped shell, bearing four to six whorls. The decollated snail has a black body and olive-grey muscular foot. Its name derives from the fact that the snail breaks off (decollates) from its shell. As the snail grows older, the top part of the pale brown shell becomes brittle and is chipped off as the snail moves over rough surfaces.
