ce. Equally familiar to me were the household implementswhich this ruin yielded (Fig. 85). Remains of a woodenchair decorated with elaborate carvings in Graeco-Buddhiststyle, weaving instruments, a boot-last, a large eatingtray, mouse-trap, etc., were all objects I could with my formerexperience recognize at the first glance, while the variousmethods employed in building the plaster and timber wallscould be demonstrated at once for the practical instructionof Naik Ram Singh. In spite of the wind-erosion whichhad lowered the adjoining ground to a depth of fifteenfeet below the original level and destroyed a portion of thestructure, the kitchen and the remains of out-offices andrush-wall enclosures were still traceable. Laden with the spoils of these first few hours work, weretraced our steps in the afternoon to the ruins of a farlarger structure quite close to our camping-place.
