Summary
[edit]DescriptionRuins of Zaculeu, Huehuetenango 1950.jpg |
English: Original caption: Ruins of Zaculeu, Huehuetenango, Guatemala. The results so far by archaeological research is that they believe the earliest buildings were erected at Zaculeu around the 6th Century of the Christian era by a group of people who traded extensively with both Central and Eastern Mexico, and, perhaps, somewhat less, with the "Classic" Maya living in Guatemala to the north and east of Huehuetenango. The United Fruit Company are at present restoring the ruined Maya City of Zaculeu, and have build a museum to put on display some of the relics already found in the ruins. Some portions of the ruins are in first class condition and the rest are still in original state. Photos by T. W. Kines, March 3, 1950. |
