| Description |
English: Ruined chapter house, Howden Minster, Howden, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The chapter house survived the collapse of the choir in 1696, but its roof also collapsed in 1750. The chapter house is a reflection of the former importance of the church and the whole town, the manor being granted to the Bishops of Durham in 1086, with the founding of a collegiate church in 1267. English Heritage provided a new roof for the chapter house in 1984. |
