Description Bilderserie zu OSM-Belegmotiven zum Wartburgkreis. Bildmotiv: Bad Liebenstein, Stadtteil Steinbach, Begehung des Bodendenkmals Obere Schleifkote von David Malsch. Das als "Neue Schleifkote" in einer Übersichtskarte von 1722 eingetragene Gebäude diente der Weiterbearbeitung von Messerklingen. Mit Hilfe der Wasserkraft des Steinbachs wurde ein Schleifstein angetrieben, der die Klingen-Rohlinge in die benötigte Form umwandelte. Das Gebäude war in Fachwerkbauweise auf einen aus Granitsteinen gefertigten Fundament errichtet. Bis in die Ortsmitte von Steinbach folgten am Bachlauf im Abstand von 200 bis 300 Metern weitere Schleifmühlen, in der Ortslage auch gewöhnliche Mahlmühlen sowie Hammerwerke. Der Talgrund war schon im 18. Jahrhundert eine florierende, arbeitsteilige Gemeinschaft von Handwerkern, Manufakturarbeitern und Kleinbauern.
