This is a photo of a monument listed in the Spanish heritage register of Bienes de Interés Cultural under the reference RI-51-0000070.

Description

Mosteiro de Santo Domingo. Los dominicos llegaron a Pontevedra a finales del S. XII y comenzaron la construcción de ese templo gótico en el siglo XIII. En el Siglo XVIII intentaron una reconstrucción del estilo neoclásico, pero quedo sin concluir, como también quedó sin concluir el derribo del ábside gótico de la primera iglesia. Se conserva la cabecera de la iglesia con cinco ábsides poligonales y un muro lateral con una pequeña portada y rosetón.

Alberga la sección de Arqueología del Museo de Pontevedra y la exposición de estelas romanas, capiteles visigóticos, sepulcros medievales ...
