[edit]DescriptionRuby rod (manmade) 1.jpg |
English: Ruby is a red, gem-quality variety of corundum, which is aluminum oxide (Al2O3). Ruby and corundum have a nonmetallic luster, form hexagonal crystals, have a white streak, and are very hard (H = 9 on the Mohs Hardness Scale). Ruby can be synthetically manufactured - seen here is a manmade rod of rudy under white light. |
