Description

D. Manuel I no ano de 1512, mandou reconstruir um Paço na margem direita da Ribeira de Muge, um pouco a montante de Santo António da Raposa. O Paço era pequeno, não lhe faltavam porém comodidades. Era designado por Paço Real da Ribeira de Muge e servia de pousada aquando das caçadas e montarias da família real. Mais tarde, e como os servidores eram pretos (escravos) o Paço começou a ser designado por Paço dos Negros. Daí o nome da aldeia que cresceu a seu redor.

Possuia um pátio central composto por uma capela e residência real, cemitério, azenha, residência para servos, pomar, horta e manada de gado. Foi sede de almoxarifado.

Actualmente ainda se pode contemplar o pórtico, a capela, a azenha, a "planta" da traça original do paço e a cerca que circunda todo o complexo.

Zona arqueológica de importância crescente. Recentemente foi descoberta uma ponte romana da via Scalabis/Ebora. Toda esta zona, principalmente a que fazia parte do Paço Real da Ribeira de Muge, incluindo o pomar zona de pastagem de gado, está em processo de classificação de Interesse Municipal, pela impostância histórica e arqueológica que remontam até á época romana. <a href="http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pa%c3%a7o_dos_Negros" rel="nofollow">pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pa%c3%a7o_dos_Negros</a>
