| Description |
Français : Les fours à potasse servaient à brûler les souches lorsque des colons défrichent une terre. L'opération permettait de récupérer de la potasse, un engrais naturel. Des fours à potasse de Kinnear's Mills (Québec, Canada) construits vers les années 1820 et 1830, il ne reste que les vestiges.
English: Potash ovens were used when wood clearing was underway. A natural fertilizer, potash was extracted from the ashes of the burnt wood. Only some parts of the two potash ovens built around 1820-1830 in Kinnear's Mill (Québec, Canada) remain visible. |
