Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Royal insignia on Bonner Hall Bridge The early Victorian bridge built 1842-1845 and arched ‘in red brick with stone voussoirs’, links Victoria Park with the west bank of the Regent's Canal. The fabric is now in a poor state of repair. The bridge is was named after the C16 'Bloody Bishop Bonner' (notorious for his ruthless burning of Protestant 'heretics' in the reign of Queen Mary) because Victoria Park was created from Bonner Fields, an area of London that came with the bishopric.
