Title
Royal Adelaide Show Wayville
Description

1. The first Royal Adelaide Show at Wayville. 1925 - the grandstand was extended in 1926 and the larger grandstand is pictured in GN09322. Caption beneath photo in "Royal Show" (Kerr) p.81 says: "With the first Wayville Show a success, there was great activity in structural work the following year. The Society spent 23,550 pounds on a new public grandstand, extensions to the Hall of Industry and Motor Pavilion, a wine kiosk and bandstand, and lawns, gardens and trees. It noted with pleasure that business houses were continuing to erect permanent structures on the grounds." (G Brooks) 2. The new site at Wayville covered 56 acres (22.7 hectares). Amplifiers were first used at the 1925 Show. In 1926 the first show bags, or ‘sample bags’, were given away free of charge.

Over 200,000 people attended the 1926 Show.
