I took this picture myself and hereby release it into the public domain to the full extent possible in relevant jurisdictions. |
In 1949, when it was new, the car would more generally have been known as the Rover 75. This distinguished the six cylinder car, pictured here, from its four cylinder sibling, known at the time as the Rover 60. Subsequently other models have also been known as Rover 75, their manufacturer seeking no doubt to benefit from the sound reputation of the original Rover 75. This is why more than fifty years on the car depicted here is generally referred to as the Rover P3.
