Summary
English: The Valencian sculptor Mariano Benlliure, who won the Medal of Honor of the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900, for this mausoleum dedicated to the Navarrese tenor Julián Gayarre; inserted several demonic figures between the heads frieze bearing the coffin. We emphasize this characterization by the perfidious character endowed with sinister look, aquiline nose as it was the use in the character of Mephistopheles in Faust opera, he takes the famous forked beard. |
