Romorantin-Lanthenay (Loir-et-Cher) L'ancienne usine Normant. L'habitation Normant, devenue hôtel de ville. La manufacture Normant-frères, entreprise familiale spécialisée dans la production de draps en laine, a été fondée vers 1815 par Antoine Normant, l'aîné des trois frères Normant. Les deux autres frères, Jacques Benjamin et René Hyppolyte seront associés à l'affaire. Fils d'un artisan drapier de Selles-en-Berri ruiné, ils sauront concentrer et moderniser une activité traditionnelle à Romorantin. Leur réussite est fulgurante et en 1825, l’entreprise compte 800 salariés. L'entreprise connaîtra une grande grève en 1911, grève qui restera dans la mémoire ouvrière. Le site est ensuite repris par Matra Automobiles, jusqu'en 2003.
Le sous-sol comprenait des caves, une laverie, un séchoir, une cuisine avec la salle à manger des domestiques, une salle d’armes et l’emplacement du calorifère. Le rez-de-chaussée avec un vestibule, l'office, la salle à manger, le salon, une salle de billard, un petit salon, le bureau, la chambre à coucher du gardien, un cabinet de toilette et une serre. Au premier étage on trouvait cinq chambres à coucher, cabinets de toilette, water-closets. Le deuxième étage était occupé par des chambres, les chambres des domestiques, la lingerie et des water-closets. Un tunnel est percé dès 1874. Traversant la rue du faubourg Saint-Roch, il permet de relier la propriété à l’usine familiale et au premier hôtel Normant bâti sous la Monarchie de Juillet (l’actuelle maison de retraite). Le parc aujourd’hui rattaché au square municipal, abrite une pagode chinoise, intstallée en 1879k, qui servait de château d’eau.
