Description
English: ROMANUS I, Lecapenus, with CHRISTOPHER. AV Solidus (20mm, 4.40 gm, 6h). Constantinople mint. Struck 921-931 AD. +IhS XPS REX REGNANTIUM*, Christ, nimbate, enthroned facing, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels / ROMAN' ET XPISTOFO' AUGG b', crowned facing busts of Romanus I, with short beard and loros, and Christopher, beardless and wearing chlamys, holding patriarchal cross between them. DOC III 7; SB 1745. Choice EF, sharp strike with traces of lustre.
