Title
Romano-British disc brooch
Description
English: Romano-British copper alloy disc brooch of Tutulus type, pin and catchplate flap missing, abraded front face with one tiny patch of extant gilding. The conical centre lies within a circular low ribbed moulding and peripheral ring of S-shaped stamps. The tip of the cone is missing but an expansion begins just below the break. The reverse is tinned and much of the coating survives. Remains of iron spindle in single pin lug. Slightly oval, diameter 18mm, but 21mm along the pin lug and catchplate. Thickness of disc and cone 7.5mm. The form of the central cone is similar to that of Hattatt no. 1070. Late 2nd – 3rd century.
