Title |
Roman weight |
||
Description |
English: A lead and iron steelyard weight of probable Roman date (c. AD 43-410). The weight has been cast and is conical in shape, with the stub of an embedded iron loop evident at its apex. The base is slightly dimpled. The object has a dusty white patina apart from some dents and scratches, which are probably post-depositional.
The weight (79.9g) is close to a quarter of a libra. Diameter at base 24mm. Height 28.6mm. |
