Description |
English: A collection of six fragments of box flue tile (Tubuli) from a fieldwalking survey of a known Roman villa site. Five of the tiles are of a mid-orange grog-tempered fabric, whilst the final tile is a grey stone-tempered type. All have one side which is decorated with grooves and one which is undecorated. One of the tiles has smoke blackening on its undecorated (inner) face. The pieces range in size from 55.1mm to 80.1mm long, and between 37.05g and 99.73g. The thickness is between 13mm and 19mm. The total weight of the assemblage is 392.89g. The edges are slightly abraded. |
