Title
Roman spoon
Description
English: An incomplete copper alloy Roman spoon handle, dating to c. AD 43 - 410. The handle is circular shaped in cross section near to the terminal end of the handle, towards the bowl end it becomes retangular in cross section. The handle has been bent round on itself. On the upper surface of the handle there are three incised lines, a notch, then another three incised lines. There is a curved semi circular projection that drops below the handle, with a square notch on the inside of the projection. Projecting out from this is a curved plate in which the bowl of the spoon would have sat.

The spoon has a dark green patina, and measures 41.6mm in length, 12.2mm in maximum width, and weighs 4.39g.
