Description
English: A fragment of a copper alloy spoon of Roman date (AD 43 -410). The fragment consists of part of the handle, which is formed from a rectangular-sectioned bar of copper alloy 19.7 mm in length 2.1 mm thick, with traces of silvering and several incised vertical grooves, and an elaborated 'elbow' at the juncture of the handle and offset bowl. The bowl is broken 6 mm from the junction with the handle. From the surviving part it appears to be shovel-like, broad and shallow and retaining some silvering.

Overall length is 29.8 mm, width 17 mm. Thickness at bowl 0.7 mm. Weight 1.8 g
