Title
Roman silver stylus, 2008 T251
Description
English: A cast silver ear scoop, probably of late Medieval-early post-Medieval date.

JP Robinson of the BM writes: A Medieval cosmetic implement, which takes the form of a combined ear-scoop and toothpick. It consists of a roughly square-sectioned shaft, which tapers to a pointed end. At the other end a collar of transverse grooves marks the separation of the ear-scoop, which has a triangular-shaped recess.

The implement is silver-gilt and dates from the fifteenth or early sixteenth century.
