Title
Roman lead figurine: Facial detail
Description
English: A lead alloy human figurine, apparently of a male, possibly Roman but probably dating to the post-medieval period. Only the head, torso, and upper part of the limbs survive. Surviving detail is good - the facial features are clear (the face is expressionless), the definition of chest muscles can be seen, and the figure has a cloth wrapped around his waist. He may also be wearing a laureate crown or wrap around his head. The figure appears to be dancing - the right arm and left leg is raised. It is unclear if this figurine is meant to represent one of the Roman gods, as was popular in neo-classical designs.
