Title |
Roman knee brooch |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete and tiny copper alloy Roman knee brooch (AD 150-250), missing a lower bow, catchplate and pin. The head loop (unpierced) is also incomplete. Measures 20.81mm in length and weighs 1.8g. The wings are semi-circular in cross-section with (damaged) circular ends holding the axis bar in place (c.6mm diameter). The wings span 10.04mm and to the reverse three incomplete loops curl around the intact axis bar. There were probably originally another one or two coils. The remains of an attachment loop extend upwards. To the reverse it is loop-like, while to the front it is unpierced. |
