Title |
Roman glass bead |
||
Description |
English: A complete annular glass bead. It is mid-blue with dulled surfaces. The wall of the bead has an uneven thickness. It is 3.2-4.8mm high, has a diameter of 12.6mm and the diameter of the perforation is 6.2-7mm. The thickness of the wall is 2.8-4.8mm and it weighs 0.78g.
Monochrome annular beads have been found in both late Iron Age and Roman contexts and are difficult to date precisely (Guido 1978, 65-6 group 6iia, 140-2). Blue/green examples are the most common, but dark blue, yellow/brown and greenish colourless examples are also known. |
