Title
Roman ear ring
Description
English: Probably a gold Roman ear ring of Allason-Jones type 2e. The ear ring is a loop of gold wire (2.15mm thick). There is a butted joint which may be soldered, or the ring may have originally been penannular. The loop is decorated with incised transverse lines which run right round the wire. The entire loop is covered with these lines.

A plainer penannular example of Allason-Jones type 1 is 2010 T287.

In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
