Roman copper-alloy hair or dress pin
Description
English: A cast copper-alloy pin of probable Roman date. This form of pin is very common in the Roman period and numerous examples are recorded on the PAS database (see BH-2041D0 for a very similar example. The head is flattened globular, or button-shaped and immediately below are two transverse grooves forming a collar. The shaft of circular section and straight, tapering towards the now-missing point. The pin measures 50.78 mm long and the head is 7.36 mm in diameter. It weighs 3.1 grams.
