Description
English: A contemporary copy of a copper-alloy Roman as of Claudius I (AD 41-54), dating to the period c. AD 41-50 (Reece Period 2). S-C reverse type depicting Minerva advancing right, holding shield and brandishing a javelin. Contemporary copies of this issue appear frequently in Britain and typically copy RIC I (2nd ed.), pp. 128 & 130, nos. 100 and 116; see also G, Boon, Counterfeit Coins in Roman Britain, plate IV, cf. nos. 49-54.
