Title |
Roman coin: Siliqua of Arcadius |
||
Description |
English: A scattered hoard of 17 Roman silver siliquae or fragments thereof and four copper alloy nummi of the later fourth century which may be associated. Two of the siliquae are clipped and one is a cast copy but the others are unclipped and of good weight. Since clipping of siliquae appears to have begun in the 390s and sharply accelerated after c.400, we may place this hoard around the turn of the 4th and 5th centuries.
