Title
Roman bracelet fragment
Description
English: A Roman copper alloy fragment of a bracelet/armlet (circa late 3rd-4th century AD). The fragment comprises the central section of a bracelet. The bracelet is constructed from two strands of cable twisted together creating an oval cross-section. The breaks at either end have the same dark green patina as the rest of the surface suggesting the damage occurred in antiquity. A similar twisted bracelet was found within a military context at Vindolanda (Birley & Greene 2006: 141-142 SF9064) Dimensions: length: 52.78mm; weight: 4.13g. Reference: Crummy, N. 1995. The Roman small finds from excavations in Colchester 1971-1979. Colchester Archaeological Trust Ltd, Colchester. P. 38-39 no.1613. Birley, B. and Greene, E. 2006. The Roman Jewellery from Vindolanda.
