Roman armour or 'lorica squamata' scale
Description
English: A fragment of copper-alloy scale armour known as 'lorica squamata' dating to the second or third century AD. The fragment is tongue shaped with two circular perforations, one set with a link between them, along each edge, and four circular perforations at the straight end. The scale armour fragment has a length of 36mm, a width of 19mm and a thickness of less than 1mm. The scale armour fragment weighs 1.3 grams. This scale is of von Groller's Type VIII.
