Description |
English: Copper alloy
Brooch. Cast Trumpet Brooch of Mackreth type Tr 1.a?1a?, comprising a trumpet shaped head with a spur at its top behind which a loop retained fastening gear (now lost). The mid bow moulding is carried around the bow, but with three vertical 'petals' towards the front and none behind. A staright bow of angular section with an unpierced catch plate behind it tapers towards a barrel shaped pedestal foot with a basal dimple. Abraded, with catch plate possibly flattened where its edge is folded, and covered with pale green corrosion. Suggested date: Early Roman, 75-175. Length: 49.7mm, Width (head): 32mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 3.8mm, Weight: 7.84gms. |
