Description |
English: A wheel-made and slipped rim sherd from a Roman Samian Ware ceramic probably carinated cup, c. 3rd century AD. East Gaulish, Trier, Samian Ware. The sherd has an orange/orange-brown fabric, with chalk inclusions and a relatively dull reddish-orange slip. The rim is sligtly everted. Lines are visible on the external and internal faces, probably from manufacturing technique. The external diameter of the cup is approximately 11 cm and the internal diameter of the cup is approximately 10 cm; 5.5 mm thick rim, 4.6 mm thick body sherd; weight is: 2.5 grams. |
