Roman Penannular Brooch
Description
English: Roman copper alloy penannular brooch of Fowler 1960 type A4. Iron stained and badly distorted. The terminals, both bordered by a groove, are flat-ended and wrythen decorated. Compare with an example found "in Norfolk" that has a rib rather than groove next to each terminal. Estimated diameter 28mm. Diameter of hoop 2.5mm, of terminals 5mm. Dates to the 1st - 3rd century.
